[imgleft]http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/7999/coas.png[/imgleft]I just ran across this press release today, Playlogic has released Age of Pirates II : City of Abandoned Ships for purchase and download on GamEssence! GamEssence is a worldwide online digital distribution platform for PC games. This news kind of surprises me a bit, as I thought Playlogic had all but abandoned this title completely shortly after it's release. For those of you who have been having trouble getting your hands on a copy, this should make things much easier! Plus it is available for $19.99! I couldn't find anything about the DRM, or if TAGES is still used. According to what I could find on the GamEssence web page it does have to be activated with a serial number during install. The Playlogic forums are of course still down, and they haven't updated the CoAS web page since the games launch, but apparently they haven't completely abandoned it!

Loot the GamEssence store for the swashbuckling experience of your life!

Amsterdam/New York – Playlogic Entertainment, Inc. released Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships. You can get it at GamEssence (www.GamEssence.com)

Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, the sequel to the popular Age of Pirates franchise, reinvents itself with a larger playing field and tons of exciting new content. From the game’s new combat system and trading options to its numerous quests and character classes, players will have countless hours of entertainment at their fingertips. In addition, the game’s free-roaming options expand the already massive storyline to include endless play through uncharted waters, new islands and undiscovered cities.

Maybe they should release it somewhere in hard copy... But still I guess this means it will stay available for a while :yes

Good find Thagarr :onya

I bought this yesterday from Game uk as a download for 19.99 , it is fun but quite tough without a manual :mm .

Ahoy paulp146, welcome aboard mate! I'm kind of surprised they didn't include a PDF copy of the manual, it wouldn't add a whole lot to the download size. The game is pretty tough in the beginning even with a manual though. Just be sure to use small(class 6 or 7) ships until you raise your navigation skill, or you take major penalty's to all of your skills for sailing a ship above your skill level, even while you are on land!

Just browse through our CoAS forums if you get stuck mate, you will find answers to almost all of your questions there. It is well worth the frustration of playing through the early levels until you build up enough skills through experience to really start enjoying the game! Good hunting mate! :onya

Ahoy mate , i downloaded the community mod and installed it , maybe that was a bad idea because i keep dying :wp it's certainly a tough game/sim but i love it , it makes potbs ect look silly.

If you are starting with the Peter Blood story line, that is the hardest to start out on, especially if you have not played any of the previous games from Akella. You might try a different starting character until your a bit more familiar with the game. Is there one particular part you keep having trouble with paulp146?
