Discussion Beaches and ports on Cuba

Master Mariner
On map of Cuba, Bahia de Moa is farthest beach from Santiago, but when you actually walk the jungle, it's the closest to Santiago. Punta de Maisi is very close to Santiago on map, but there is no way you can get to Santiago from that beach. It's only linked to Havana which is at the other end of the island. Is this reasonable?

The map shows the positions of the beaches correctly for sailing. Bahia de Moa is near the northwest end of the southern coast, a lot nearer to Havana than to Santiago; Bahia de San Antonio is about halfway along the southern coast, slightly nearer to Santiago than to Havana.

It might be possible to swap them around by swapping their reload locators from sea and editing the map; "PROGRAM\Locations\init\Cuba.c" would probably also need to be edited to link each shore to the correct sea locator. My main concern is whether this would upset any quests which use those beaches - especially the "Bartolomeu" storyline and the "Peter Blood's Crew" sidequest, which both rely on Bahia de San Antonio.

Right,
Bahia de San Antonio is used by quests :(

On the other hand...

Bahia de San Antonio would still exist. The land reloads on Cuba wouldn't change; Bahia de San Antonio would still link to the same piece of jungle, which leads to Havana outskirts. The "boat" reload would link to Cuba's "reload_5" instead of "reload_2". So you'd sail to a beach which is nearer to Havana, land on the same beach as now, then walk to Havana. Likewise, Bahia de Moa's land reloads would still point to the outskirts near Santiago port, but its "boat" reload would link to Cuba's "reload2" instead of "reload_5", meaning you'd sail nearer to Santiago before mooring and walking to Santiago.

The main problem would be for veteran players who think they know where Bahia de San Antonio is without looking at a map, sail to where they've always gone, and end up on Bahia de Moa. They'll just need to find the map of Cuba and read it again. :read
