Note sure if it is a bug.
Blaze Devlin's backhand sword swing (shown in the screen shot below) often times causes no damage to your opponent. Ways to test:
1. Get on deck
2. Start hacking away at your crew (you won't kill anyone). Don't get into fencing practice. Just hacking at any crew.
3. You will notice backhand swing often times causes no damage as if the hit doesn't land. Regardless the distance.
