Boarding a ship

Hey all <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I'm the relative new guy, so this will most likely be a dumb question with a simple answer. Be nice.

At the moment in Build 12, I'm about to sail from Redmond to Greenford to meet up with the soldiers at Grey Rock Bay (I think its Grey Rock Bay, right?). Up to this point, the only person/people that would board an enemy vessel with me is someone specific that I hire in the tavern as an officer. All other crew members just don't cross. I thought there was meant to be an equal matchup between soldiers on ships? Me and my officer just get slaughtered every time!

Am I doing something wrong?

Ahoy there Wilko <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

YOur right grey rock bay, but maybe its a bug <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

Apart from that, whenever the `angel-life`-saving video is meant to play, the game dumps me to desktop along with any progress I've made.

I'm sorry to rant, the game and build are fantastic, but it always seems to be me that carries all the bugs with it.

If you hired an officer in the tavern it´s a smart move to tell him to sit out the next boarding. You´ll get anonymous crewmembers instead, so you don´t loose `high-skilled` professionals in boarding actions. That said, it should appear logic that you don´t invest too many skillpoints in their melee skill, but rather those skills that help you with ship- to- ship fights like accuracy, guns, sailing (very important), grappling, defense and repair.
Sailing is important as well for your prize captains (those supposed to command the ships you captured).
Regarding the boarding, I _think_ everyone in the fighting scene starts out with an enemy on his own, I never had more than that. Then, it depends on morale (and luck) how many of your crew can kill their opponent or get killed.

Well, whatever the problem was, it seems to have dissipitated. Thanks anyway all <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Yep.. same happened to me last night in fact. I got killed in a brawl and thought i was saved.. as i saw the tavern room and everything appear.. then black screen.. windows.. D'oh! Bit of a pain i guess but if it is a rare bug then i can live with it (pardon the pun).
Its the first death since installing 12.1 mod/patch so hopefully it doesnt happen every time.

Maybe you´ve got a problem with the video, try disabling videos in the buildsettings.

Did you run the RunMe.bat after installing the Build? Doing that might help, too, at least it won´t hurt.

I tried it again last night... and i pressed the 'I' key at the start.. and next time i got killed it didnt dump me to windows. My own stupidity again... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
