Build 12.1 Charater information

Azriel

Powder Monkey
I had some tweaks in place for the start of the game...modified charater_init file, but build 12.1 changed that file and now none of the changes I make take affect...I.E Ship name, charater name, charater skill level(he is a captain...skills should not start at the lowest level) even the game refers to previous adventures and or enimies made, or money, again privious adventures. Your skills should be proportionate to the officers you have. your first mate should not never higher skills than you or he would be the captian, or there would be a mutiny shortly after leaving port. As far as I can tell the charater is not nobility so his postion is not assured. So if someone would let me know where build 12.1 get these statistics so they can be changed it would be most apprectiated. Oh by the way, I have already beat the game without build 12, Thats why I have gone through and changed a few things yo make the game more realistic by my estimation. I'm from the gulf coast of the U.S. Tampa to be exact. Which was founded by pirates or buccaneers(for PC sake) Tampa never could reconsile the fact that the city was founded by criminals and murderers...lol, the Gasperilla parade is held every year to celibrate this. So pirates are not just a passing interest for me. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" />

Open up the PROGRAM\BuildSettings.h file. A lot of the things you're searching for have been moved there. There are also a lot more settings there that you can change to your liking. Hope this helps. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

Dude nice reply

that was the quickest ever. I just posted.....lol

Thanks I will try that now........you da man <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

That helped abit, but I'm still not finding the stat controls points, skill points. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

And you say you can't tweak them via the character profile? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> When I start a game of PotC, I don't want to fiddle about with Malcolm in the tutorial, so I give myself a level 4 start - which is what would happen if I was to do the tutorial with Malcolm - I always would spar with him long enough to get up to level four right away... I don't like starting any bigger than that - to me part of the challenge is to build yourself (and your crew) up...

I DO, however, start off in the Adventurer difficulty level. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

You can set your level to be higher when you start so you can set the skill points as you like. Say: Set the starting level to 4 or 5, then in the game, put the points where you want them. I reckon level 4-5 start is still quite realistic. Putting it at level 20 would be cheating. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I only increase the leadership and sailing skills, maybe even the cannon skills but I do not mess with the level itself. I didn't think of it to tell you the truth. Oh yea, I found the files I was looking for Thanks for the assist Pieter. It seems that build 12 created its own directory. All the files I was looking for were there. I had been looking at that directory....didn't dawn on me to check in there until I pulled my head out of my backside and noticed that the files in the directory match the game, and I call myself a Tech <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />.
