Cannon Reload Times

Luke159

Buccaneer
Storm Modder
In POTC cannon reload times are fast and i believe the reload times are reduced depending upon your own skills, in COAS its not like that, i've tried using the cheats to max my player out and still the Sloops reloading times was slow, is this normal and if so does it change over time?

I believe reloading times depend on the number of cannon crew you have on the ship. If you have a high number of cannon crew they reload fast.

number of cannon crew and their skill level to boot, get better gunner recruits at taverns and not only does their reload improve 10x but their accuracy. seems crew skill has as much or more to do with it than your or your other AI offiers skills do.

plus if you recruit horrible gunnery crews it takes ages for them to level up to get good.

Thanks for the help:D i've just looked into that and i see the bar for cannoneers, how do i increase the amount of crew working on the cannons because all i can hire is sailers?

just goto other towns bars and ask for crew, pirate towns sometimes have crews that are good to great in gunnery and combat, national bars usually have better sailers tho sometimes national bars do have good combat and gunnery crews available. usually i goto la vega i think where i almost always find crew that are good in gunnery and combat.

each ship has a minimum gunnery crew about 3 people per cannon your ship has or something, but what i do is if i just got a ship i will only take enough crew for min sail crew, then goto other taverns and fill out the rest of my crew. you can mix and match crew that way. but if you glut your ship full then you have to fire them when you do reach a good port and their lower skill downgrade the skills of the sailors you can recruit.

Thanks, it would make sense then to follow your strategy and take minimum crew on and head to another port for better skilled crew in gunnery or sailing depending upon which is weakest. I will have a play later and see if i can have some fun pirate hunting.<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
