Can't attack ships on sailing screen!

When I go to the sailing screen some of the ships that are there do not show up on my compass (whether they are hostile or friendly). I can attack them and sail up to them but I cannot board them. There can be a row of five hostile ships and none of them will show up on compass (sometimes one will but it is invariably a sloop and not the 100 gun ship of the line I really want to capture).

Any help would be appreciated. I am running pre build 13.

That sounds like what is known as the "Ghost Ships" bug. It was an issue in previous modpack versions, but it was fixed. Are you using the Build 13 Beta version? If not, get it from my site.
