Uhhh...I'd love to know what history book Akella pulled those costume designs out of for the Capt. Blood characters....oh wait excuse me...what was I thinking?? Of course....Akella pulls things outta their collective arses, not books.
Jimminy! Those uniforms look more like something the evil King & Prince from Voltron wore than anything from the 17th century!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":|" border="0" alt="mellow.gif" />

Are there any sketches or pictures in slavatore's books? I think that sketch is the character you play so i quess they had to make it a bit....special <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

No, his books were not illustrated. But they are firmly set in reality, no fantasy `soft-focus` world there....
If that is our character, why does he wear riding boots? Does he enjoy a morning prance about the deck of his ship on his wee lil' pony? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

never wondered what cartoon Firaxis pulled their `oh-so` historically true pirate characters out of? At least akella's characters don't look like a bunch of cheap comics heroes trying to hurt each other with toy sabres. OK, Akella may not pay too much attention for historical accuracy, do you seriously believe that Firaxis will impress us in that department? I don't think so. Pirates dancing in governors palaces? YEAH...RIGHT! Oh, wait! What was I thinking? You actually never get to play as a pirate in "Pirates!", so it's ok <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
At the end of the day -- we're talking GAMES here, if it's fun to play the way it is -- so be it.

I to always found that funny.

But on the other hand to me Pirates! per say was never ment to be a hisorical game though

I don't think Sabbatini's story about Captain Blood is very historical either <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Well, depends, the events described did take place, the plundering of Maracaibo by Morgan and the sacking of Cartagena by the French Admiral de Pointis who hired buccaneers as support troops and later betrayed them.
