Feature Request Improve Castaway Roleplay (kinda) in the beginning

Hey Guys,

i currently play the freeplay with the castaway option and want to do this in a more or less roleplaying way. This means that i first want to earn some coins in the town to buy a ship. The dinghy is too small to transport goods and escorting merchants with an unarmed ship breaks the immersion for me. As i am not very experienced with new horizons, i got few questions:

1. what can i do to earn some money? Are there any kind of Missions i could so within one island?
2. what requirements i do need to fulfill to do some bodyguard missions. Are they randomly available? In my first game, i found some citizens who were afraid of burglars and asked for protection.
3. is it possible to cross the ocean in a boat like the dinghy in real life? I cant really imagine that

St. Pierre, Martinique has a lot of side quests. I doubt you'll get enough money to buy a ship, though. You might just about be able to afford a tartane of some sort.

2: You need to have reputation of at least 50, which isn't all that much because you normally start at "Neutral", which is 45. If you've risen to "Bloke" then bodyguard missions should be available.

It used to be the "Evil Stormy Start" feature and it is indeed quite evil.
If you are just getting started with the game, it may be a bit excessively challenging.

I started my carrier as a robber in Castaway, using my fist and the blade when needed.
This way I got money, better weapon, items and skills to start the adventure.

I have some Experience with older Versions of the Build mod and Potc in general, but that was quite a while ago and i dont remember anything to be honest. Anyways, i was diligent and own a fast war galleon and collected some coins. One thing i dont get is the Navy Rank System. I work for the Empire and climb up in the Naval Ranks, but where do i get better ships? The Shipyardowners only sell Warsloops or equivalent ships; where do i get the "big guys"?

Are you in the NAVY or did you buy a Letter of Marque?

Assuming you're indeed in the navy, then you should get a new ship every time you're promoted.
If you're a Privateer, then higher ranks allow you to buy higher tier navy ships.
Whether they're for sale though is as random as it was before; bigger towns with a better economy tend to have larger ships available.
Of course if you're a Privateer, you can also just steal your preferred ships from your enemies.

I just have a letter of Marque. How exactly can i get into the britisch navy? I have visited navy HQs but either they dont offer me joining the navy or the Headquarters are just abandoned

At the moment the only ingame way is to start the game as a Naval Officer. You can't join in mid-game. Yet.

Though I think executing JoinNavy(ENGLAND); through console might do the trick as well.
