heh! dam storms <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> After a lucrative sea battle with four ships, was head'n fer a friendly port fer repairs, hit a storm sail'n into port, when switched from map mode to sea mode was close to shore and was rain'n with very small waves and no wind, in fact was fairly calm, had about 12% left on me hull and all ye could do was watch my hull damge bar drop to nuth'n and watched her sink <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

yeah it speeds up time 3X faster i think
i used it in POTC2 when i was running from english governer

and now in AOP cuz i dont like battle too long....

Sea battles are a test of patience and skill, not just firepower. A corvette, properly manned and skillfully handled, can pick apart a man-o-war. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" />

So what is it then? Sail against the wind or sail into the wind.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

You will notice that if you strike sails and turn into the wind you will get more xp and take less damage.

Simple conept really, if you are going away from the wind the waves are hitting your boats ass and your boats ass does not break water very well so you take damage, if you are sideways then you risk rolling over (not in this game though, you just take alot of damage) but if your sales are up they would get ripped off the masts (again in this game you just take alot of damage).

Try it you will see more xp and alot less damage.

not normally if both captains are skilled. Fire power ruled the seas mainly because no matter how skilled you are if the other captain has a brain also he will manage to get a few broadsides off on you and a crovette is not going to handle an SOLs full broadside very well at all.

I saw this in online play alot with this game. I usually go out in a corvette (it is may favorite ship by far and what i sail in the game also) I load it out with 16´s. Most people I play i just break all thier masts, sit in thier blindside and take my time sinking them however last night I ran into someone who knew what he was doing.. Along with constantly repairing his sails he managed to get off a few good shots and the result was me going down in a ball of flames :p
