Closed chest in Tenochtitlan (not the one with the knife)

I did the Tenochtitlan quest today. Got the totems, opened the temple, found the skull, fought the god, opened the chest, got the knife, found the shotgun. But there's one other chest in the temple, on the upper floor. When I approach it I get the message that "the box is closed". What's in it and how do I open it?

If the chest on the second floor, the totem in the Incas temple. The temple will be opened only after the Askold quest "to destroy the Spanish expedition".
 
the shotgun was in the temple where the god of death is? i didnt find it O_O

i only saw 2 chest one above and one below

also how do u open the door to the other temple in front of the temple of the death god?

No, the shotgun is in the temple of the white gods. You go to the temple of... eternal life force or whatever it is, fight your way down, and place the last totem on the platform. That opens the chest on the lower level. From that chest you take a sacrificial knife, exit back out, go up the stqairs to the temple of the white gods entrance, go around the back of the rotund structure, and insert the knife into an ornamental keyhole. That opens to door, you go in and grab the shotgun.

13, I think. Two to get rid of the fire on the bridge, ten to open the temple, and then one more to open the chest in the temple.
 
there are actually 15 totems..
3 for the bridge
10 to get inside
and 2 the chests
ANyone knows whats those swimming pools for? I've defeated the God used all the totems and went inside the swimming pools but they were still blocked by columns.. from what I've seen in the God's temple those pools should lead right in those chambers, each with a chest
 
i found a totem in one of those chest the one on the right side of the temple is a dummy though so dont go there
 
Wait, there are three for the bridge? I know you can walk through the fire and use a totem there, but I didn't know there was a special one for that.

The swimming pools are underwated mazes, you have to find the way through. Only the one on the left is worthwhile, though, it leads to a chest that has the totem you need to open the chest with the knife. The other one leads to a chest that appears to be looted and you won't get anything from it.
 
Yo Sordid. Since you're one of the game's main connoisseur, do you have a full information of all of the required totems and its exact locations?
 
No I don't, I bought most of them from street merchants over the course of my game. When I start a new game I'll try to add the totem names to the list of locations (if it isn't done by somebody else already), but that's going to take some time yet.
 
I actually found a totem (can't remember which one) along the fence behind a church. I think it was in port of spain but I could be wrong. It's the only church you can actually walk behind that I've found, though.
 
There's a bunch of totems lying around in cities, but I haven't been able to find this particular one anywhere else but in the chest.
 
do Akella really expect people to walk pixel by pixel?

anybody know where to get the last totem to open the chest to get the knife to open the white gods temple to get the shotgun please tell me.
 
Guess it's going to be awhile before I do this Quest for I am not going to walk every pixel in every city looking for totems. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

If I can not buy them at a store/vendor, or if I don't accidentally walk over one to find then to heck with it. Too many other ways to finish this game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

Go through the "swimming pool" maze on the left, theres a totem in a chest there that opens the chest you need to get the knife

Totem 1: Bermuda, Broken washbasin - swim around the ship: xochiquetel +20 succes
Totem 2: San Juan del Norte beach: Mictlantecuhtli +20 stealth
Totem 3: Marigot cave: Quetzalcoatl +20 Defense
Totem 4: Port of Spain, random merchant
Totem 5: Fort-de-France, Dungeon, at the end: Chalcheuhtlieue +20 Authority
Totem 6: Tortuga, random merchant
Totem 7: Willemstad, residence, column: Huitzilopochtli +20 Medium weapons
Totem 8: Hispaniola, in the Lighthouse of Santo Domingo: Tlaloc +20 Light weapons
Totem 9: Santiago, torture chamber under church: Mayahuel +20 Heavy weapons
Totem 10: Inca Temple, right side near a bush

These are the ones I wrote down, forgot to write down what the others were and where I got them. Not sure if its random.
