Nice links, Rupert, thanks! I find that one where they guy is building his own fluyt to be extrememly interesting. Personally, I don't like Fluyts too much. I find the stern way too high. Ever since I saw the <a href="http://www.cultuurwijs.nl/sites/cultuurwijs.nl/contents/i000891/arbeid_batavia.jpg" target="_blank">Batavia</a>, I haven't really liked them. I prefer a ship like the <a href="http://www.bmz.amsterdam.nl/adam/pics/pakhuizen/oosterdok.jpg" target="_blank">Amsterdam</a>. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />
BTW: I reckon the ship on several of the photos in those links, especially the ones on the New Zealand page, are the Batavia. They look very much like her indeed and they could be the Batavia, because a few years ago, she did make a trip to New Zealand. I hate livin on the mainland. You see i used to live in Newfoundland canada right by the ocean and i LOVED it. My dad would take me fishin every now and then but then we moved to alberta and like its boring here. Just trying to point out how much i love the ocean and missing it.
