Need Help Game Crashing after clicking start new game

RobNipton

Landlubber
So ive never managed to play the mod, but ive been trying to play. Ive downloaded the intel fix, tried different compatibility options and nothing seems to work. It boots fine, splash screens and all, but when i attempt to start a new game, select a start point and finally attempt to start the new game the game crashes with no error message or anything. Ive attached a compile log.

Odd. I had this issue long ago but intel fix fixed it. @The Nameless Pirate is there a reason why this is happening? Also, intel fix lowers the quality of the water and if that isn't bad enough, some places in game will be extremely slow. There are fixes for this. Nameless Pirate will know. Alternatively, I'm sure, the New Horizons mod has an intel fix so you may want to check it out. Not sure though.

First of all, you should update your game to the latest version. That one is really old and has lots of bugs.
Second, do you happen to have two graphics cards, and one of them is intel? If so, try this.

Welcome aboard @RobNipton! :cheers

I don't think that this is related to the Intel fix.

I was going to say what @DavyJack did, but she beat me to it. xD
Thank you! :cheers

P.S. Alternatively I have also used DGvoodoo and the NVIDIA control panel to limit the FPS.
But Rivatuner is the safest bet. ;)

That looks like a faulty installation. How did you install the game?

First you should install the stock game from CD's. Do not put it into its default folder, which is somewhere in "C:\Program Files (x86)", as Windows does silly things to the game if it is in there. Put it somewhere else, e.g. "C:\Games\Pirates of the Caribbean".

Download the mod from here:
Mod Release - Build 14 Beta [Last Update:30th November 2020

Parts 1 and 2 ("Installation Wizard" and "Contents Archive File") must be in the same folder as each other; this does not need to be the same folder, or even the same drive, as the game itself. Run the installer. Do not touch "b14_beta4_final.tar" yourself! The installer will automatically extract the files and copy them into place, then replace many of them with newer versions.

After that you can download the Extra Fix Archive for the latest updates. Check this page again:
Mod Release - Build 14 Beta [Last Update:30th November 2020
The name of the update file, and therefore the link to download it, changes with each update. You do need to extract this one yourself as it is just a simple zip file.

I agree with @Grey Roger.
Mu suspicion is that somehow something went wrong in installing.

Did you extract any archives manually, for example?
And did you install it on top of the original 2003 game?
