[HELP] Nation Hero Reputation

Ahoy mates!
Firstly, i have searched forums for my problem and can't find a solution, so sorry to be a pain.
I have a major issues with gaining or losing reputation with nations.
As of today i've been on this one game profile for about 3 days, and after completing plenty of missions for the English and helping them in sea battles my reputation still lies at being 'Neutral'
To add to that, quite the opposite, I have been attacking Spanish constantly.. Yet my reputation with them is also 'Neutral'. Now my initial thought says there must be a problem there?
Is there something i'm not quite getting about the nationalities reputation? Does it only go up or down for major quest events in part of a story?
I have the Combined 3.2 mod, if this is of help.
Thankyou mateys!

I feel your frustration think I can shed a little light.

Reputation in this game seems to be more tied to little deeds rather than big deeds like winning battles.

For instance try letting some ships go after you plunder them and see what happens. Accuse someone of cheating at cards or dice and have a duel and see what happens. Also take some missions from Priests and see what happens. In fact there is a bug here that you can really take advantage of. The clearing cave of undead mission sometimes gives you endless credit. If you go to the priest after and tell him you cleared it, you will see that that dialogue is still available again after you've already said it. Say it over and over again and watch your reputation ascend to Hero and Admiration status with that nation. That is if you want to cheat.

Not well balanced I know, but that's how the game works. :modding

Ahh thats some useful stuff there! I appreciate your help MK! I guess its down to me to try and put those tasks ahead now then!
It just cant seem right that I've attacked and plundered over 10's of Spanish fleets, yet they still find me a neutral friend! Flattering i guess, but everyone needs some enemies once in a while ha..
Anyway thanks for the feedback! Will get back to you soon with the result!

I find the part about attacking Spanish ships weird because in testing for CMV3.2 i would have the reputation of any given nation change to hostile if i boarded and looted/sunk or captured ships from any nation. It didn't happen after one or two ships but it did happen after several, i think it only changes if you are attaching merchent fleets though. I can't remember now its so long ago that i tested that part out.

I think they did that intentionally actually, however I would really like to understand the criteria in the code. It doesn't seem consistent. I look at it like this: if you attacked a ship of a certain nationality, unless you were near a coastline where people of that nation saw you do it, or there was a second ship that got away, - then how are they gonna know you did it? It's not like they had cell phones back then.

So over the course of attacking numerous ships, word eventually gets out. When you bring the prizes back to friendly ports and sell them, and your own men brag about your exploits in taverns, it leaks out and becomes clear where some of those missing ships ended up and whose to blame. I like that it takes some time and think that is realistic, but not always.

I have had a good reputation with a given country, and then can't resist attacking a really nice group of ships. The chosen convoy has a couple of respectably sized escorts and I made certain that no one got away, capturing the finest ships with the best cargoes and sending the others to Davy Jones.

However, my reputation instantly changes when I attack or capture the third or fourth ship in the convoy. NOT realistic. It seems to be a scalular thermometer in action here that only reacts when you pass a certain threshold in level, reputation and size of ship captured. Too bad it's that simple, but I think it is.
