How do you make a new sword?

I want to make a new sword by using a model already in the game but a different texture that i will make and different stats, how would i do this, without over writing anything?

Open initItems.c, copy an entry for one of the swords and change it's statistics. Then reinit or start a new game for the change to take effect.
