Fellow modders, i have a few ideas, which dont involve adding new models, but could boost the `long-term` motivation:

- Basically capturing ships should be more rewarding, even if the captured ships class is below your own vessels class. This could be achieved by adding special "loot" to ships.

- Apart from the usual cargo and gold this "loot" pool includes all current stats increasing items, good swords & hand guns and superior officers. To make this loot special, stats increasing items and good swords & hand guns should not be buyable any more and not be given to the player after duels at land. After successful boarding there could be random assignment of items, for example rand(5), with `1-4`: no special loot is given to the player and 5: AddItemToCharacter

- Since the stats increasing items dont have a noteworthy effect currently, because the player gains skill points quickly, a skill cap should be implemented (e.g. 7/10; alternative solution: only 1 skill point to spend per levelup). To achieve a higher skill than 7 you have to get one of these stats increasing items, for example a "sophisticated parrot" gives + 1 leadership. If the skill cap is set to 7 there could exist 3 "unique" items, which increase the given skill by 1 point each.

- Superior officers: The skill cap also applies to tavern officers, but there is a random chance that an officer with a superior skill of `8-10` joins you (automatically) after boarding. If the skill cap cannot be implemented an officer of a higher character level than the players character level joins you, officers in taverns have a character level < players character level.

So what do you think, are these changes feasible?

- Another idea: certain events could trigger a skill decrease. Example: if you divide the plunder and your sailors share is very low you suffer a -1 leadership.

I like the idea of aquiring officers after battle. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
