Need Help Is food shared between ships?

Ok so i got my ship and i got food on it, and i got second ship and it also has food on it, the question is, is food shared between ships or do they both need food

I believe it's shared...

Yes and no. For most purposes food and rum are shared. But if you do anything in the shipyard and one of your ships has no food, it will make an automatic purchase, even if your other ships have plenty.
