It's been a full week since that news release by Playlogic, and I can't find a single US web retailer that even mentions the game as an upcoming release, let alone one offering a preorder. Unless you count the UK sellers on Ebay. They STILL have not updated the ganes web site at www.ageofpiratesthegame.com, or the official Playlogic forums for the game. I have tried several times to sign up to the Playlogic forums, but they keep blocking me ...which is probably best, because I would only end up getting banned! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> Since the press release last week, there has only been one post to the official AOP forum :

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Re: AoP - City of Abandoned Ships. Release?

Come oooon Playlogic..! It's been.. How long since the last post from you guys, on here? I'm really starting to feel like it's not worth the wait.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It is becoming more and more obvious that Playlogic wants this game to fail, and fail badly! I am debating weather I am even going to buy the game now! I want to support Akella and Seaward.ru, but the way Playlogic is treating this game is simply inexcusable! I have seen bad game marketing before, but this is far beyond anything I have ever seen from any other game publisher.

EDIT: Sorry Cap'n Drow, missed your post on the Playlogic forum earlier, great post mate! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

No worries good sir. I posted that a couple of day ago in an attempt to get more new faces around here. We definitely have seemed to see an upswing in subscribers as well as modders.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to see what I posted on the Playlogic forums you can find it in two locations first for <a href="http://www.playlogicint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6311" target="_blank">Age of Pirates</a> as well as for <a href="http://www.playlogicint.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6312" target="_blank">Age of Pirates 2</a>

Good thinking. Personally I think the Playlogic AoP/CoAS should just auto-direct here.
Saves them the trouble of supporting the game (they don't do it anyway) and ensures that people do actually GET support.
Does anyone think there's any point in actually suggesting that to them? In somewhat more politically correct terms, that is...? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

I still think that an "Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales" and "Age of Pirates: City of Abandoned Ships" page should be created on the ModDB.
It'll allow possibly interested people to find the mods and it can be used for promoting CoAS too.

Indeed it DOES seem as if Playlogic WANTS CoAS to fail. Are we going to let that happen? Or can we try and get some people interested after all?
Of course it appears that those people who ARE interested are actually getting annoyed to the point of not wanting to buy the game anymore.

Personally I don't particularly want to buy a game with Starforce either.
Can't we just download the game illegally but without Starforce once it's released and then donate the price of the game directly to seaward.ru? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/24.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rofl" border="0" alt="24.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I myself have no other option but to pirate that game because it's just major pain in the arse to find particular computer game from shops (non-internet ones) and don't even mention ordering one from amazon or anything like that.. I don't have credit card for it.

Looks like I'm in the same boat as you, Deepy - EB Games refuses to bring it in for me, and since it's neither developed nor published by Electronic Farts, Wal-Mart won't be selling it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

How 'bout Wal-Fart? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Got another e-mail from Amazon and suprise, suprise,(words to the effect of),they have'nt recieved the delivery yet for distribution.... so getting it by whatever date is up in the air again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Developers, customers and distributors,... we're all being now pi**ed about by this damned publisher.

How about contacting seaward itself? If playlogic won´t set the game free, why not getting an english version from seaward directly? Playlogic gives a damn about us, so lets take a shortcut! We should ask the developer! Maybe they could set it free as a "standalone-mod" or something. I wouldn´t have any concerns about breaking a contract with a publisher, who wants my game to fail!! Playlogic seems to break the contract anyway!!!!
Lets roll!

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thpirateshipff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":piratesahoy!" border="0" alt="thpirateshipff.gif" />

Takeda-One, I would bet that Seaward and Akella have already been paid some minuscule amount by Playlogic, or they would not have turned over the game. Their hands are tied, they would be violating their contract if they did anything like that. They wouldn't be able to find any western publisher to take them on if they did that, although the way they have been treated so far by western publishers, I would be surprised if they ever sign another contract with one!

Finally! EBGames has COAS as a pre-order for $29.99 US.

<a href="http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=74652" target="_blank">http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDeta...roduct_id=74652</a>

Yikes - that means it'll probably be about $40 in EB Games up here. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> Think I'll wait and see what others think of it before I decide whether or not to get it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
