Over on their blog, the L' Hermione Voyage 2015 project have announced the date of their NYC Gala, it will be held aboard the retired US aircraft carrier Intrepid on October 14, 2014. from 6:30 P.M. - 10:30 P.M.
The Gala will feature a dinner and program including featured speakers former US secretary of state Dr.Henry Kissinger, and also US TV host and journalist Charlie Rose. There will also be a Video Presentation, Live Auction & Pledge Drive to raise funds for the voyage and various other projects.
This will be a high price affair however, typical for anything in New York. Reservations at the Admiral’s Table (12 guests) will set you back $50,000, the Captain’s Table (10 guests) will cost you $20,000 and Lieutenant’s Table (10 guests) will set you back$10,000. There will also be Sailors Deck individual ticket price of $500. Each of those tears have their respective perks, some tied to corporate sponsorship.
They have also revealed a few tidbits of information that have peaked my curiosity. There will be a travelling exhibit that accompanies the Hermione to each historic port she visits during her voyage. There will also be a documentary made about the ship and the voyage, although they have revealed no details. There will also be a reality TV show filmed on board, this one has me a bit concerned, however if it is done properly it could educate a lot of people. And last, but certainly not least, The Hermione Game - a video Interactive education game where players sail with Lafayette in 1780!
