Landing Party and forts

Ok, so I bought the landing party ability. How do I use it? What is its use? Also why do the forts not take damage when I shoot bombs, cannonballs at them?

from what i understand, or what the description tells me useing this skill will order a ally ship to attack a fort, no, that cant be, its the same just telling your ship to attack it, so pretty much m just babeling here <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

you can order allied ship to attack the fort as normal as you do to attack an other ship so you don't need to have this ability . Am not sure how the landing party ability work but maybe it is like telling the crew of the ship to land with you when you are doing the second part of the attack ( the sword fight ) . Cannonball is better when attacking forts because it gives you the chance to hit the fort from a distance with no taking back fire from the fort ( that depend in what cannon you are using ) .
