Load saved games?

I've only had the game a few days, so this may be something pretty obvious that I'm neglecting to do?

My Load (as is the Resume button) button on the main UI is inactive and not available. However when I goto save a game, I can see other previously saved games in there.

Why can't I load them? I could before?

This is a plain vanilla install.

Are you using the Build 11 mod?

No it's just a plain, out of the box, vanilla install.

I'll try another reinstall, just in case I've cleared something essential out of XP's registry, in my last poke around.

Unless, as I said, it's something I'm not doing, like creating a player (there isn't that option available is there?).
