my game gets very laggy after midnight

This only happens when I play in any city or during a sea battle but not during the world map scene. If I am already in one scene and it turns midnight there is no problem with the lag, but if I go through a door or something like that then the lag comes. This happens only late in the night or early in the morning, But I dont have more lag after 7 am. What can be causing this?

I have the same problem. I read somewhere that turning down the sea detail helps, but I tried that and it didn't do much (if anything). I noticed that if I'm standing in the port at night I can move around just fine, but as soon as I point my character in the direction of my ship, the lag starts up. My guess would be an issue with all the shading, bloom, and other lighting affects at night.

One more thing that can course the game to lag is editing ship files. Example if you own a MOW and then edit the MOW in ships_init adding a little more speed or something like that which will not effect your MOW since your MOW will remain as it was even after pressing the reinit button. But all MOW's that are generated will have close to the value's you gave them. This can course the game to lag since your MOW will be different to those.

I'm not sure as to which exact codes will course the game to lag but as i found out when setting the waterline for the Surprise the game lagged at night but as soon as i sold the Surprise after capturing a new one the game was fine again. So it might not effect all things you edit but it might effect on how much you edit those value's by. Example adding 1000 unints of space to a cargohold or 6 knots more speed anything like that might course the game to lag till you either sell the ship or capture/purchase a replacement and sell the old one.
