New game problems

ok, so I've just installed POTC on my pc. The game works perfectly rite until I press 'new game' on the menu. After a few seconds the game closes and i get this:

ENGINE.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

error signture - AppName: engine.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: sea.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00001704

i not really sure wat the problem is <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> , but it makes my game useless. Would a build help?

please i have been really wanting to play this game, any help or tips will be appreciated!

This sounds like a problem I heard before. There is a game version that has messed up DLL files in the MODULES folder. It is always sea.dll that causes the crash. We have been able to solve that problem by overwriting the corrupted DLL files with the proper DLL files from somebody else's game. I uploaded the files to my webspace, but my webspace is down, so that doesn't help. I am not at home at the moment, so I can't upload the files anywhere at the moment, but I will as soon as I can. Unless somebody else does it first.

I don't remember if I did or didn't add all MODULES files into the Build 13 files; I think I did, actually, which would mean that after installing Build 13 it should work again. But I'm not entirely sure about that one... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Extract <a href="http://www.s31clan.com/pietersmods/modules.zip" target="_blank">this file</a> to your main PotC folder and see if the game does work properly after that.

Thanks 4 the help, however, the game still has the same problem, with the sea.dll

Are you sure the files were extracted to the right folder and have overwritten the original files? Try this: Remove sea.dll and see what happens. If your problem is what I think it is, the game will start now, but the sea will be black. There will still be other problems left, but at least that would enable us to confirm if your problem is the problem several other people have had.

I'm having the exact same problems listed here, removing the modules file does let me at least start a game, but as you said, the sea is black and every time I try to board my ship the game crashes.

No, it didn't work. I've read on other threads that this seems to be a problem common with integrated intel graphics cards, which is unfortunately what I have in my laptop. However, the game works fine on my desktop back home, which uses the same sort of card.
