Officers and Abilities

When you hire officers in the taverns they come with unused ability points. Do they share w/ you and your ship? For example: if i give my fighter Boarding Master, Musketeer and Boarding Devil, will mt crew gain thoes bonuses?

but officers will only share skills and abilities in the post they are assigned to.

wich reminds me, something amazing happend today, i came across a level 18 offier that had no skills and abilities, he was blank, 1 on everything, i could create the officer of my choosing, so i made myself a nice and skilled master gunner <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
