Hi Pirates,
I'm running the July 19 Update ( not to bad). Can I install the August 28 update on top of this?
Has anybody had ago at it yet?
The July 19 updates generate lots of errors:
Lots of lines like: Runtime Error - file: seadogs.c;Line 764
Invalid index 132 [ size: 132] and that cont. up to 254
There are lots more. I tried to up load file to this post but get an Upload failed message, which I don't know
how to fix.
<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> However the game keeps playing dispite of all this, had only one crash so far.

Follow the instructions to installation and you will have much less problems.

Taken from the POSTED readme:

Full Install and Update Instructions:
----------------------------------------

1) Install Build 12.1 Full (build12_full.zip 80mb)
Run the "RunMe.bat"

2) Install Pre Build 13 base (pre_b13_base.zip 303mb)
Run either "English.bat" or "Russian.bat"

3) Install Update August 21 2006 (pre_b13_upd_21-8-06.zip 21mb)
Run either "English.bat" or "Russian.bat"

4) Then install this pack on top to fix many bugs.

These error messages seem the error messages that are sometimes generated when saving the game. I have these frequently as well and they're not caused by a wrong installation. I don't know why they ARE caused though. I don't think anybody does. But still the game usually saves and loads just fine despite these error messages. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

Heh, oops... links help <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Save game runs through all variables in the game. If a variable has garbage, and is pointing to something invalid, the save game will not like it. Thus the seemingly random error. We believe its nothing to do with the save process, but rather something somewhere else that originally created the invalid data that is trying to be saved.

Since the damned save process doesnt give what attribute, or ref name, or any of that... its pretty dang hard to find the cause !!! AGH!
