I'm working on a pirate related project and I'm wondering if any of you here might know of
any research or polling done on the popularity of pirates in American or world culture. In particular I'm trying to find out things like: How many copies of Treasure Island have been sold? How many adults today have read it? How popular are pirate related books and films
compared to other categories? How does the popularity of pirates break down by age groups?
Do pirate items sell well? Are there any market reports or research about this?
I'm trying to convince an editor about relative appeal of pirates to an adult audience and any documents that would show this would greatly help. Thanks for the help.
