<u>Captain:</u>
He is elected (vote) by the crew for his abilities and his skills. He must be a leader, has courage and be a good tactician.
His cruelty and his destruction’s spirit against the enemies can be a choice criterion for the crew.
He’s got absolute power only in battle.
He’s got a cabin on the ship but the crew can enter at any time.
He has life and death power over the prisoners.
He received a more big part of the booty.

<u>First mate:</u>
Captain’s right hand. He will be the captain if he’s killed.

<u>Quartermaster:</u>
Representative of the crew. In particular for debate with the captain.
Used like judge for litigation aboard.
Share out the provisions and the treasure.

First mate and Quartermaster were often the same man.

<u>Boatswain: « bos ´n »:</u>
Go in for navigation and sails.

<u>Carpenter:</u>
Be in charge of reparations.

<u>Gunner:</u>
Responsible for weapons and cannons exercises.

<u>Surgeon:</u>
Take care of injured after battles.
This function was often doing by a man without knowledge of medicine.

<u>Musicians:</u>
Play music. The crew is very fond of music while they’re at sea.

<u>Cook:</u>
Do the meal.
Few pirates are good cook.
