problems with POTC

Hi everybody!

I'm new here and this is my first post.

Well, I played POTC a long time ago and I liked it a lot. And now I discovered the mods and I want to play again, but I can't, with or without them.

I see the menus, and I can change all the options, but when I press New Game, the game jumps to windows and this error appears :

engine.exe has found an error and it has to be closed (literal translation from spanish)

I have a laptop, a HP compaq nc6120, with this features:
Intel Pentium Mobile 1.73Ghz
512 Mb RAM
Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

And I was able to play more recent games, like Fable or Pes5.

I hope you can help me.

Thanks in advance

What mods are you using? Build 12? I would recommend first trying Build 12 before trying the Post Build 12 mods. Also: The mods might not work too well with Spanish versions, even though I think they should... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I use an english version, but the error is in spanish.

And the problem is that I can't play the normal game without the mods. I see the original menu and when I press new game jumps to windows. And when I install the mods (first build 12 and then post build 12), I can see the new menu (very nice) but the game jump to windows too when I press New Game.

So the problem is with the original game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

And when I played the last time was in an older pc, and I didn'n have any problem.

Thanks

Sounds like a hardware problem.

Even on older PCs the game would have problems with some video cards/drivers.
Some sound card problems would also crash the game.

Laptop configurations I would think are even less predictable.
