Question about renown

Tahlendorf

Landlubber
I have 3 pirate captains as prisoners.
If I gave them to the authorities (England or France, neutrals to me, I haven´t started a national campaign yet because I don´t know which one to do with the P.Blood character, english or french) then my renown drops when I turned in even if the pirate´s reputation is 'known killer'...
Is this a normal issue? or just a bug?

well since you are privateer, straddling the line between pirate and navy, your overall rep drops if you turn them over to the factions, just goto your cargo hold and let them go, it is against the brethern code to turn them in i guess hence the rep hit no matter who you turn them into.

oddly most of the pirate line, when you goto meet another pirate at sea if you fly the pirate flag they attack you lol. most of the brethern pirates fly the brit flag, lest to me since i am british, could be different if your nationality is different i suppose. but i found it a bit odd.

Well, again a bit of interesting trivia about that.

Most pirates did not fly a Jolly Roger full time. Usually they would use their own national flag, or if trying to be tricky, they would fly the flag of another nation if they thought it would allow them to get closer to a 'prey' ship. They would only run up the Roger when they were going to attack a ship. Mostly it was done for the shock effect.

Most merchant captains would rather heave to for a known pirate rather than risk death or worse.

It was usually a brave or foolhardy pirate captain that always flew the roger.

Just a bit if info there, mates.

No, I´m playing as Captain Blood and sailing under Brittish Flag most of the time (only flying the Roger twice when trying to sell some ilegal stuff on french ports to make some initial cash).

I don´t have any Letter of Marque nor Comercial license and I´m not affiliated with any nation (still thinking about doing the English or French sides, maybe french due to the roleplaying and the beginning of the story)... If my nationality (shown in the character picture) is english, and I sail under British flag... Is it right to fight, board and sink ships from Spain, Holland and Pirates without a Letter of Marque?

They will hate you for it, but the English won't mind.
