I was recently in combat with 3 pirate ships. One of the ships surrendered even though I never fired at him. His morale was "Normal" as I had the masterwork spyglass and could see it. Any ideas one what would cause the surrender? I've noticed in the internalsettings, there is a setting for that surrenders are not checked for if above a certain number. I currently have it set at 20, is this function working? Any ideas on why a ship would randomly surrender?

If you mean SURRENDER_MULT it doesn't appear to be used in the game at all. If you mean another setting, tell me what it is so I can go research it.

I assume you mean SURR_MAX_MORALE. It's set to 40 in my game.

If you have logs turned on, you'll see a line in the compile log that says something like:

SURR: for char CrRedmond4 of ship Manta surrender chance is 1

This ship had a 1% chance of surrendering. Next time you see a ship surrender when you thought it shouldn't, check the log and see what the surrender chance was. The game is using some Nathan Kell math and it's really difficult to trace what it's actually doing.

Thank you Hook, that will be helpful. I turned on logs so if it happens again I will check it out. I had been refering to the SURR_MAX_MORALE like you said. I appreciate all the answers to my often dumb questions, I'm trying to learn some of the easier parts of modding, but my foggy old brain has a hard time keeping up! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
