Strange and would like some help please...

Hello everyone,

I've had a problem with CTDs and other things that make the game very slow and then just stop. Let me explain - first, I have a Dell 4550 2.52 GHz, 1 gig ram, XP sp2, ATI 9250 250 mb vid card, panda anti virus, and that's just about it no other games installed (not anymore). From build 12 I have been experiencing a lag and then a shut down of the game, it seems after I progress further and further, it (the problem) comes quicker. Almost as if the game knows I'm almost to a good spot. At the begining of the game I can play for about an hour or so depending on what I do in the game. It's like the game feels I'm past a point and then gives me problems. This is what happens - as I play, the game sounds start to disappear, then some of the icons of the other AI players go black, shortly after that the game will crash or just stop. I play in full screen and have tried it in a minimized screen with the same effect. If i reboot my comp the problem will be gone for X amount of time, 15 min to an hour. I kinda think it's my comp but if someone has any (and I meen any) ides i would be very greatful. One of my friends had said to me once that it sounded like a memory leak to him, but neither of us know what that is or how to check. Please, anything you could suggest would be a huge help to me. And just to be clear, I love these mods - I'd rather reboot every 15 minutes and play the game with the mods that not play at all. So again - anything please. I thank you in advance <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> I've read quite a bit about your Vidiocard and it seems
to me that's where your problem lies! Playlogic was to have put a fix
into one of their patches. I use a ATI Radeon 9600 and 9800 with 128 ram
on a simular setup than yours, never turn off any background programs. I've got
antyvirus and firewall running. Both my Computers are doing very well, thank you.
I do get the odd crash, but not anything as bad as you! So do yourself a favour
and replace that ATI 9250!!

I'm afraid I have no idea at all why that might be happening. I never encountered anything of the sort... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Noise, Pieter -

Thank you both for the replies.

I have an older Nvidea card that I'll try out, it was the same card I had in my comp when the game came out _and it worked fine then. I'll let ya all know what happens. If I don't have any problems, like I have, I guess I'll be saving my pennies for a newwer and better vid card. But realy - thank you - after a long and hard day at work NOTHING is better than getting home and sitting down at the ol' comp and plunderin' and a fightin' .

gods speed and <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Again - Thanks gents.....

If I were to get a new system in the next three months - do you all have any sugestions???
detail would help - too much is not enough for me. Money is some-what of an issue.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Sorry I took soo long to reply RICO,
Been very busy at work.

I live in A town called El Mirage, Arizona, U.S.A.

As far as what I need the computer for ----------- well -----------------

TO PLAY THIS GAME OF-COURSE!!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" /> ---

among other things.

I'm not very computer savy, if I was I would help with all these great mods.

I use this machine for relaxation after a long day. In order of importance I guess I'd have to say:

1. games
2. email/surfin' the web/find info
3. music
4. and not tryin' to do too much of this --- <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Well - there ya go

I guess I'm what you might call --- simple <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

If you want to play the game on your computer, be sure that it DOESN'T have some sort of Intel onboard graphics card thingey. Make sure you DO have some sort of GeForce or Radeon graphics card. Those are good GFX cards on which the game will probably run just fine.
