Supporting your ship and crew

Troublesome Corsair
Officer Puppy posted this in another thread, but for the sake of anyone having a similar problem, I thought I'd post this under Tips and Tricks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

<!--`QuoteBegin-Officerpuppy`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Officerpuppy)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->What I dont understand is I had 2 MOW and 2 battleships and a ton of money after I finished the game in the last build, now that im on the new build and finished the game I can barely support two frigates.

I kinda miss having a big ol belly full of rum and wheat like Cat said <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />[/quote]

I don't understand where you're going wrong <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

I have a Warship and 2 Galleons at the moment. I actually have to keep selling off some planks, wheat, and Rum just to make room for other cargo. For the rum, once I have a Galleon or two full, I usually smuggle it to Douwesen, then I have to boad several pirate ships right after to restock.

(Funny, I go through sailcloth the fastest) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

I've never had to buy any of the needed stuff to support the ships and crew, just board alot of ships and steal what you need. Don't get too worried about leaving other cargo to go down with the enemy ship if you don't have the room. Try to keep the cargo hold on your flag ship as empty as posible and transfere everything to your secondary ships. When their holds get full go sell or smuggle everything off. Try to keep cargo that is valuable for the islands that you're closest to, (or where you're planing to head straigt to) and just ditch the worthless stuff.

I suggest also to maintain a fleet of 3 ships rather than 4 so you can keep big ships that you board to sell off later, and you can even continue to board enemy ships until the fourth ships hold is full if you want.

Good thoughts.
Back when I actually played the game--heh--I'd almost always _just_ take a frigate. With only about 10 days rations. And try to hunt up a merchant convoy, and take a (hopefully there's at least one) galleon first. Over the side go the balls, and I put everything but my grape on her.
Then I grab the next largest (probably a fleut, unless I'm lucky). Then I take a _smaller_ ship, and plunder and sink her (filling my hold) and then dump the worthless stuff on all the ships and transfer my cargo to one of the merchies.
Then rinse and repeat, saving the next biggest for `second-to`-last (and after I take her, I dump _her_ worthless goods, transfer mine over, and take the last small ship for her goods).

The Take All button is very helpful because (plug here I'm afraid <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: ) I rewrote it to take the most expensive goods first. (Dunno if everyone knows that yet tho'). Basically, you put all the goods on their ship (that fit), hit take all, go back and swap the cheap over, hit take all, rinse and repeat. And eventually you'll have the most expensive goods and the trash will be left to sink.

P.S Good job on that though, cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Generally I am selective in what I take - sail with two ships - a small nimble one (xebec or lugger) and a larger one (schooner?) - OR a corvette and a MOW... The larger ship is stripped except for essentials - bombs, sailcloth, timber, wheat, and rum. The smaller is built for combat...

I capture ships and plunder, if the ship is big enough I keep her and sell her, if small I loot her and sink her.

I ALWAYS take the rum and wheat, and replenish the other goods on my ships as needed. Otherwise, I sell of the rest of the goods. Usually I put what I want to sell on a ship I am going to sell, - then it's easy at the store and shipyard.

<sigh> It's a living! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Like I said my flag is a Warship but me two cargo bearerers are Galleons, and I'm impressed at their defense! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />
