Oops, I guess I was wrong. Thank you Pieter for clearing that up. I would suggest that the new Black Pearl not be added until the collision detection is fixed.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That might take forever. I hate having to keep her out. I personally would want to put her in as soon as we can figure out how to make her a hard opponent when fighting her, but a good but not uber-ship after capturing her. I personally don't care that much about the collision detection. Apart from that little thing, the new Black Pearl is better than the old one in every respect.

why not simply have an uber-ship as a reward for completing the main quest? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> otherwise it would be more like a downgrade from your manowar.

The Black Pearl is not supposed to be the best overall ship in the game. She should be fast and manouvrable and relatively strong, but not to such an extent that all battles are easily won. Even if you do sail the Black Pearl, the game should remain pretty challenging. With the current Black Pearl at a ridicluous 100.000 hit points, the game isn't very challenging when using the Black Pearl. Basically the Black Pearl should be a good pirate ship that is good for capturing enemy vessels. The Black Pearl is not a navy ship intended for destroying forts. We've got Manowars for that. We shouldn't really have one ship in the game that is good for everything. No matter how good one particular ship is at one thing, there should always be other ships that are better at other things.

ok, if you put it like that, it seems fine to me. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> however, ship berthing seemingly doesn't work right yet in build 14 alpha, so those forts will have to wait, as i always work alone, and defeat anything on my way. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> Yes, The org. Pearl is still there as I just captured her! (Build 13.0.2.3) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

wait, i'm confused. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> which pearl can i get at the end now in build 14? pieter says that i can board the new one, (but i might have been unclear there) and now you say it's the old one! (or at least in build 13) what's up?

In the current Build 14 Alpha you get to board/sink the old one. The new one is in the game, but not used anywhere, so you'll never even encounter her unless you cheat.

i'll just wait some more then. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

oh, and i got it as my desktop as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> first i had the new colonies archipelago, but i can view it in-game now anyway.

You can easily change it though so that you do encounter the new Black Pearl rather than the old one, but the new one is much less strong and has much less HP, making her much easier to sink.

where? it would be very handy for me because my computer barely gives me enough time before it crashes again to defeat it. but i can of course board it now. and i still get it in a more or less fair way.

ch.Ship.Type = "theBlackPearl";<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

should i leave the bit in capitals behind that or remove it?

about that last bit: should it look like this?:

void ExecuteConsole(ch = CharacterFromID("Barbossa");
---------------------------ch.Ship.Type = "theBlackPearl";)
{

(leave the '----' out, it's for the positioning of the lines. i didn't put that into the code)

one more thing: will this have any effect when i install anything new that has something to do with this? like the mod with the adjusted new black pearl when it get's finished?

It should look like this:<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->void ExecuteConsole()
{
    ref pchar = GetMainCharacter();
    ref ch;
    int i;

    ch = CharacterFromID("Barbossa");
    ch.Ship.Type = "theBlackPearl";<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->This won't mess up anything. It will just set Barbossa to use the new Black Pearl instead of the old one. This does make the final battle easier, because the new Black Pearl isn't an uber-ship like the old one. And the new Black Pearl doesn't have torn sails by default either.

In the PROGRAM\Characters\init\StoryCharacters.c file you can either remove or keep the text in the capitals. It is after a // mark, so it takes no effect in the game anyway. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

good, i'l go fix that now. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

there should be an empty line below the code i inserted, right?

I didn't know about that line. Yes, it would indeed make her an uber-ship after all. We should do something about that. The way I would prefer to do it is this:
1) The Black Pearl is an uber-ship with torn sails when you have to fight her
2) As soon as you capture her, she becomes a normal ship with patched sails instead

i can imagine how it would look when you assault a fort with it. after all those hits and not sinking the side of the ship would look like one big hole! you would also end up with a ship with lots of HP left but no cannons after a while.
