Unassigned Crew

How do you keep "Unassigned Crew" from disappearing after selling thier ship. It seems odd to me that The game doesn't allow you to take vessels and then sell them, since you lose the crew from the ship you sell. This has a disasterous effect on Crew experience. I've twice had to rebuild from "dumb" experience because of it.

Try usin' F2 > Ships > Crew > Transfer! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I've tried the transfer crew option, but at a certain point, I can't remove any more crew. I still lose the skeleton crew.

I find skelletons are of little use in battle but that the bullets do tend not to find flesh.
