unrealistic slow sailing

rabisyong

Landlubber
I hope its just my particular game, but ships sail very slow. My schooner only sails at 3.o knts with a 11.0 knt wind, what is that. In the middle of a storm i never broke 5 knts. If anyone thinks thats how ships in those days sailed, they are terribly mistaken. Are there any files to edit to make the ship sail faster, or mods of the same?
Please post if anyone else is experiencing this terribly slow sailing, it really needs to be adressed.

Your sailing with the wind at your back and no damage to sails? And your in a ship thats appropriate to your nav skills (no negative stats in your profile)? If so then I'm stumped, I have not experienced this problem at all.

No doubt my sailing skills are low, i bought the schooner right after i escaped from bridgetown, so that could explain it. But something else ive noticed relates to sailing before the wind (wind at your back). In real life, thats not always the fastest way to sail, it depends on the ship and its sail pattern. A schooner, with long curved, lanteen sails, sails better at a slight angle to the wind, not so well when going in the exact same direction as the wind.

All good in theory, but in CoAS world you'll have to mod it or sail with the wind <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />

Schooner shouldn't be that slow even at the start though...unless you changed your attributes and have even less talent. When you go to your profile do you have any negative ship attributes, like navigation? If not then you have enough to sale a schooner. If so then thats why its so slow. Also I'd check if your overloaded as Sordid mentioned.
