wake.ini fails to load

I have no idea how this happened. I woke up one morning to play and when I loaded Pirates! it said that my wake.ini file failed to load. What is this anyways? After the Fireaxis and Akella logos appeared, the main menu did not pop up and instead, my game crashed! noooo!
