Was Robert Taylor real or fake?

The whole story is, when I was very small, I had a camp counselor from England named Robert Taylor. My dad always referred to him as "the dread pirate." I don't quite know why.

Drunken Pirate,
Maybe your Dad was joking by way of referring to the book, "The Princess Bride," which features the "Dread Pirate Roberts", or there's always Bartholomew Roberts, or "Black Bart" as he was nicknamed, but I'm not familiar with a specific historical pirate by the name of Robert Taylor. Maybe someone else will come along who knows of one.

Just what exactly was this camp counselor teaching you, plundering?

I wish I had gone to that camp, I'm only an indifferent plunderer. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ib012.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cry" border="0" alt="ib012.gif" />

Between you and me, I'm still trying to figure out some of the things my own father said at one time or another and I'm in my forties... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

There was a pirate Capt. John Taylor. I haven't seen anything about a Robert Taylor though. I'll check out the library this week and see what I can find if you want.
