What's the BEST ship

Yes as long as the ship is your personal ship. Upgrade it and change ships with another companion, upgrade that ship etc. IF YOU have the CASH!! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thpirateshipff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":piratesahoy!" border="0" alt="thpirateshipff.gif" />

The cash is the least of the problems, I have like 40 million on my person and another 40 or 50 in banks. I'd pay ten times more if only the old bugger would gather the materials himself.
Personally I think the economy of the game is pretty broken, initially money is a huge problem, but very quickly you're drowning in the damn things. I'd love to be able to have a ship upgraded or built to my own specifications. The price could well be ludicrous, I wouldn't mind. It's not like I have anything else to blow the cash on anyway.

obviously, there's no obligation to supply him with all the materials at once. if you do not have enough ships to bring them all, you can take only part of it, go to shipyard and tell the guy you have all the materials. he takes it and deducts it from the overall quantity of the stuff needed. then you can make another round(s) with your ship(s) until you deliver him all the necessary things.

I upgraded five ships already at different times from the Pirates Settlement and except for expanding the crew I've just went to their store and bought the right amount of materials. To heck with sailing when its only a finger click away. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

That works well when you want to upgrade small ships but for the bigger ships the store owner will usually not have enough materials in stock for you. If his stock increases with only about 30 units a day it's faster to set sail and get them elsewhere. And even if it's not, it'll be less boring than repetively having to get a room for the night 'til there are enough materials in stock.

Yeah that makes sense, guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

You don't need to get a room, you can go to your ship, enter map mode, and just sit there with accelerated time until the required number of days passes. Doesn't work so well in other parts of the map since ships spawn and try to fight you, but Bermuda is behind the reef ring and they can't reach you there.
