wats the code for the original ship u start with in the character_init.c :blah::

It depends if you're using the Build mod.
If you are then it's something like "Lugger1_"+ENGLAND;

I'm not at the PC with POTC installed but try the following that I found on another thread that you started:
ch.Ship.Type = "Lugger1_"+ ENGLAND; // PS - SHIP_LUGGER_ENGLAND;

line should say either

ch.ship.type = "Lugger1_"+ENGLAND;

(Build 10+
or

ch.ship.type = SHIP_LUGGER_ENGLAND;

(stock, or Build 9 or less)
