World Map Sailing

In other pirate games such as Port Royal 2, which you could only sail via world vie world view. if your ship was damaged such as masts wipped out your ship would reflect that damage on the world view, it would be nice to have a similar update for POTC and one day COAS, i think thats the one eliment missing from the game now that should never have been taken out in the first place.

Taken out? It was never in there, was it?
The worldmap ships don't even reflect the real ship types at this moment. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

In Port Royal 2 your ships was effected by sail damage however i can't remember if it was in a patch or a mod its been so long ago that i played it.

The thing is, all worldmap ship models need to be pre-made. So we'd need to make a damaged and undamage version and different ship types too.
And before you know it, you've got 500 MB of worldmap ship models. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

plus, going to the worldmap is the only way of actually getting out of the problem of being dismasted, although it's a cheat.

I don't recall going into worldmap mode magically fixing your masts. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

That's true. And your ship-type doesn't matter either as far as I'm aware. So much for realism. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

But sometimes ships on the world map are faster than others, and most of the time faster than the players.

Yes? I always got the impression the player was faster. Most is handled internally without us seeing it, so I'm not at all sure what is and isn't taken into account. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

i noticed thats that, when i'm being hunted by a pirate on the worldmap, there faster, but when i'm not hunted i can catch up with em
