Attack Mode Bug

I only found this out by chance, it might not alway's be a problem and could surface only late in the game or something like that, but i was messing around while at the pirate settlement at Bermuda upgrading my Coastal Frigate, the staore was out of the supplies i required to finish my current upgrade but rather than fetching any i decided i would check each day and buy any of the Ebany i found there no matter how small the supply was.

Well the average amount was about 50 or so units per day, i needed 571 units to finish off the upgrade so it was going to take a long long time but i had no reason to rush after all i was waiting on the bounties or 60k Spain and 150k Holland to be fixed, that would take a while anyway. So while enjoying my confinment to Bermuda i started sleeping with the bar maid, the first 3 i tried to sleep with left after i was attacked by some guy, finally the fourth maid wasn't like that or at the time she wasn't like that, i don't know if she would have changed since i killed her with the shotgun i had equiped, 1 shot and she fell to the ground. Well that happened because i drew my weapons when she entered the room, i thourght she was a he and was going to attack me so out came my weapons and when i released who it was i tried to disarm my character, i frantically pressed E but not to any avail, so i thourght if i shoot her maaybe it will reset the problem and let me put the weapons away, that didn't work so i reloaded only to find i hadn't saved since leaving Basse-Terre with the supplies i needed for the two upgraded i had already done at Bermuda some 15 to 16 game day's previously so i lost a lot. (this was a cheat game/mess around) i had 2 MOW (used the cheat window for them) I had the best spy glass and sward/gun (you get after using cheat for MOW) i used the money cheat 4 times at Basse-Terre after buying the Constitution i ran out of money buying all the supplies i needed to upgrade the Coastal Frigate. I used the skills cheat so i could max my character out in all area's and have all perks. I don't know if the cheats activate a bug within the game or what but i was testing things out ie encouter frequency, to see how early in the game you start to meet large fleets and if you can increase the chance of meeting them via some actions of your own like looting enemy towns. Oh and i had 1 more cheat activated, the no rats and no food consumption cheat was activated. I hadn't done any quests since i hd npo intention of keeping this game going once my testing had been complete. And at the moment my testing is inconclusive since i never finished the test.

This reminds me of some webmasters wich fill their index pages with tons of keywords to get better positions on the SE

LOL, you really think so. Never noticed myself but then i do run a forum so i guess it is second nature to make extensive posts with what might seem like a large collection of keywords but are more a detailed insight into the problem at hand. Anyway if it does indeed play into the search engine then it helps some poor person out there find there way to this here forum and by doing so there dreams to find answers will have been answered.

On a more series note i will be getting ready to do some tests into if the attack mode is a problem within the game engine and not something that is activated via something happening as i expect it to be the case in the game such as using the cheat window or something like that.

Haven't ran into that one, but your description busted me up good. Sorry about the lost games, but the vision of offing the poor barmaid as she walks in is just plain precious!

I haven't seen anyone comment a lot on those robbing wenches so will post a warning for those that haven't seen it. Whenever I'm taking one upstairs, I always give all my money to a trusted officer. I keep 20 gold after I rent the room. If she doesn't send up her boyfriend to rob me, she either really likes me or she wants to roll me for cash. I've noticed if she does rob you, exactly half of your cash will be gone. 20 piasters are now 10 which is worth the "rumpass" as she puts it. Glad I found out early in my gameplay months ago when I only managed to lose 16,000 piasters. You get a good scolding if she robs you when you ask her where your money is and she threatens to scream bloody murder and have the guards throw you in a "piss stained cell". Gotta love the dialogue.

There is a chest there. You can simply put all your money in it (no need to keep any gold on you - you prepaid her services). Too bad you cannot put your weapon there so if het buddy shows and you are not in mood in fight he still will take your weapon.

BTW - she may and she may not steal half of your money (I guess it is random) - but it seems once you find a "honest" wench you can romp her over and over again - which is usefull if you play the Big Bad Captain and need to lower your reputation.
