DIrectSail works fine as far as I'm aware. The Save At Sea functionality also helps here.I haven't really given Direct Sailing a go yet, but this will probably become my favourite additon, allowing a seemless game world for the patient! I understand i should expect bugs around it?
I wished I knew. They just disappeared. Also i noticed a post by Pieter in another thread that we currently have no coders here, how did that happen! Were they overworked maybe!?
That stuff is repeated in a lot of seperate dialog files, but you might be able to do a "search and replace in all open files" with Notepad++ to quickly sort that one out anyway. One last thing, i really want to change the dialogue in the trade shop screen where you only can say 'I'd like to sell the cargo i've brought' to enter the cargo trading section. IF you have no cargo to sell this really jars! So is there an easy one file edit answer to getting this bit of dialogue changed for all trade shops? Or do i have to individually edit all the trade shop locations dialogues?
Now that's a scary thought in itself. How are we supposed to truly move forward without proper coding support?I wished I knew. They just disappeared. Also i noticed a post by Pieter in another thread that we currently have no coders here, how did that happen! Were they overworked maybe!?![]()
Exactly what has been bothering me for quite some time now. Progress is slowing down for sure and I already don't know how we're ever going to get things properly finished. Now that's a scary thought in itself. How are we supposed to truly move forward without proper coding support?
Our ultimate goal of porting everything to Storm 2.8 is seeming more and more far-fetched, now.
We're going to need some pretty good ways of attracting new coders, otherwise even just fixing all of Build 14's bugs will be nearly impossible. Well, MORE impossible.![]()

I'm quite losing enthusiasm myself, so I'm not doing much either; just trying to support you guys and I'll still compile the Patches/Betas whenever I can.
If you're losing enthusiasm, then take my advice: play the game a bit more!I'm quite losing enthusiasm myself, so I'm not doing much either; just trying to support you guys and I'll still compile the Patches/Betas whenever I can.
The only trouble is, how many pirate enthusiasts also like pirate RPG's? We just don't know. There is large interest in Piratey things.
That's a very good point. We should aim to be very active around the time of PotC4's release, especially on ModDB.I'm sort-of hoping that once we release Patch 6, it'll generate at least some interest. If we can't do it now that a new PotC movie is being released, we can't do it ever.
And if we can't get the interest for ourselves because the game is too old, at least we should point the potential interest towards AoP 2.
directsail is most certainly NOT bugless. it just doesn't have any serious ones, but that seems to count as bugless in this modpack. then again, technically speaking, directsail doesn't have any bugs. it's just sailing in general that has them. one of my favorites has to be swapping ships without swapping their sailing stats.
i would agree that playing the game will make you like it, but the problem is that it will inevitably screw you over sooner or later due to quests intefering with reach other. that's always ruined it for me, and meant the demise of quite a few logbooks. it's just the vast amount of minor annoyances that's bogging it down, but without any coders, what can you do?
