Gun ammo reloading.

Cpt. Cook

Landlubber
In my inventory I have equipped a 'gunpowder flask', 'Good long pistol', 'ammunition bag' (24 pistolbullets).

It seems in fights I can only fire one shot and the weapon never reloads. Is reloading automatic or do I
have to reload manually?

Build 14 2.2 installed.

Edit.
I found the problem, setting really.
Cant reload gun while sword is draw. Advanced setting.

Yep, that's right. We implemented that setting because, in reality, it would be a bit difficult to reload a pistol while using your sword. ;)
Reloading is automatic once you sheath your sword.

That is why on the lower levels I use grenades, poisoned throwing knives, cobblestones, sandbags, stinkpots, just whatever I can lay my hands on to slow them down.

I always thought the inability to reload was rather tedious. The only thing it achieves is the player having to press a few buttons, including a short speed up. I always turn it off.

I agree with this concept....But in game, its totally incoherent. I don't know anything about making videogames so I hope i dont sound to harsh but . . there is no meter to show you when your bullets are ready... the reload time is unknown and long . .in addition, there is no animation for reloading whatsoever... So everytime the player shoots. They have to fight with no indication of when they can shoot next. . . (adding in a reload command/button and/or two animations for reloading with and without a sword drawn would be great! Additionally, the player would be unable to fight while reloading and reloading taking longer with a drawn weapon.) Would love a patch or update or something!

There is absolutely a reload indicator.
What game or mod are you referring to???

I'm pretty sure the reload indicator (the light blue bar above the red bar which shows your health) has been there since the original game. The only change in the Build Mod is that, as has been pointed out, you can't reload while fighting. You certainly can't swing a sword while reloading a gun so you can experience all the thrill of reloading in battle by letting the enemy hit you and not trying to parry. :D It's also why, if you play "Hornblower" and get to the bit where he captures a French sloop, the video of the capture (taken from the TV series) shows him firing a pistol, then he doesn't try to reload it, in fact he doesn't even try to holster it, he just drops it.

Reload time is not unknown. Look through your inventory. Guns show their potential damage, reload time and accuracy. Your combat skills and perks will have an effect on these.

Animations are probably a function of the basic game engine, so I imagine that adding new video of a gun being reloaded would be extremely difficult if not impossible. Especially as such video would need to be created for various types of weapon, e.g. single-barrel pistol, multi-barrel pistol, short shoulder weapons such as musketoons, and long shoulder weapons such as muskets.

Confirmed. There was a time with the modpack that the indicator didn't update, but I fixed that years ago.
So it is there and it works.

Depending on Realism Setting. On Arcade Game Mode it still works as it did in the original game.

Indeed that wouldn't be easy. It is also not important from a gameplay point of view.

A video would also get very annoying very quickly and I can guarantee people will start skipping that almost immediately.

Long story short, I have no clue what @Wiplashcmtavish is referring to.
His comments don't match with the unmodded game and also not with the modpack.
Sounds like he's talking about something else altogether, but I don't know what. o_O
