Replica Frigate "Shtandardt"

Just returned back home after my Shtandardt adventure!
Even had a chance to walk by the other Tall Ships in Aberdeen and met a former classmate as well, though apparently there were more around.
If only we had been part of the festivities, I'd have been bound to meet up with more of them again.
As it stands, I visited the local Maritime Museum instead.

While some hints were given of meeting up with PA! Members, unfortunately that didn't come to pass.
Guess I'll have to wait until SAIL Amsterdam 20-24 August to see @Jack Rackham, @Hammie, @Inez Dias and @Homo eructus in person.
I'm trying to convince more people to show up, but so far no takers...

Oh well, guess I'm going to have to go visit the others in person instead.
For example, I've got half an invitation and half a mind to visit the Whitby Pirate Festival at the end of August.
Anyone else around there, per chance?

How about London if I'm interested in visiting the Pirate Exposition currently in the Maritime Museum there?
Or I wouldn't mind a visit to Trincomalee or another visit to Portsmouth either, this time in a more excited company.

After all, my goal nowadays with this community is...
#Uniting_Maritime_Enthusiasts
Which Captain Martus from the Shtandardt liked as a tag as well and used, so far, already once in his promotional messages to social media! :cheers

Unfortunately the weather wasn't all that great and you'd previously said that the Shtandart wasn't going to be allowed in. It wouldn't have been much fun trying to find the ships and then wandering around them during the rain and I didn't think that you'd be in Aberdeen, which is why I didn't make the journey up.

I did visit Aberdeen for even an additional day in the end.
Saw a bit of the Tall Ships on Sunday and then went to the Maritime Museum on Monday.
But yes, my shoes got very, very soggy.

I HAD to go to Aberdeen, because that was where I booked a flight home from.

I might go to the Whitby Pirate Festival at the end of August.
Is Newc'sle anywhere reachable by you...?
Or that REALLY a bit too far?

BTW: did you ever visit HMS Unicorn in Dundee?
PiratesAhoy! has some history with that ship.
And I've never been to Trincomalee yet.

It's even further than Aberdeen, but what really puts that one out of range for me is not distance but time. At the end of August I'll be at the annual rocketry event on the west side of Scotland.

No, partly because I didn't find it, but mainly because what I did find was RRS Discovery. So I had a good look round that ship instead.

Fun and games, sounds like!
We'll just have to meet some other time then.
I'm sure we can make it happen if we want to!
@Jack Rackham and @Inez Dias I'll also be meeting at last soon, after all these years of knowing each other.

Oooh, ALSO cool!
Didn't know about that one either!

Unicorn doesn't look like much from the outside.
But here is the PiratesAhoy! link:

I recently spent one month on the 1703 replica frigate Shtandardt.
Here is a first taste of my arrival in France and my initial steps on board her decks:
Video put together by my father, who was kind enough to bring me there.

If there's anything you'd like to know, please be sure to ask and I'll try to answer as best I can.
Either in person or in another video that may or may not happen in collaboration with another YouTube channel (*nudge nudge, wink wink*).
