That's what I was thinking. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> My first PC game was one of theirs - ever heard of "Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold"?

Wtf.. Who's gonna continue Duke Nukem Forever then? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I dont know about Aliens of Gold, but I did play Blake Stone once. A great spy-hero game.

Now when I come to think of it, 3D Realms really are a bunch of loosers. I just forgot...Duke Nukem Forever is actually a joke - its been maybe 10+ years in development now, its the game that will never get released. Unofficially renamed to "Dude - Nuked Forever!", I can relate to the funders closing the box for letting more finances out on that account. What really happened to the game, I dont know - buttom line is nothing sold, nothing earned I guess.

Still, Duke Nukem 3D had those mirrors, I was totaly stunned. Never seen before. Even Halflife, released several years later, did´nt have that mirror effect. Does PotC have mirrors? I think I´ve seen it, but dont recall...

Apogee, John Carmack, John Romero...the pioneer heros of 3d gaming such as Catacombs 3-d and Wolfenstein 3-D, and later on the developers of DOOM sans Apogee, will go down in history as a fenom of the genre.

Friends of mine will tell you that Apogee self destructed when they decided to dump DOOM and revive Duke Nukem 2-d (both developed by the Carmack/Romero team) as a 3-d game.

Carmack and Romero left to form id software and run with DOOM, and the rest is history.

Apogee was run by a group of losers who didn't know shit about developing 3-d games until they were reformed as 3D Realms by a couple of programmers who were left over from Carmack and Romero's team that stuck around after they left to form id. They came out with a couple of titles that were ok, ( Rise of the Triad, Terminal Velocity) but nothing special.

Duke Nukem 3-D (originally LameDuke) was the DOOM engine that Carmack and Romero took off with to form id, that 3-D realms (stole) to develope Duke Nukem 3-D.

3-D Realms got what they deserved. Boatload of losers. IMO.
