I realized that, while I had a lot, it would barlycover the cost of repairs, crew replacement, and morale boost. Frustrated, <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> I went and watched POTC:tCotBP. While watching, I had a thought.

Enter the Legendary treasure. The concept is simple...instead of selling your booty, you store it on a small island that belongs to noone. The larger your treasure gets and the longer you go without taking from it, the more legendary it becomes. As the fame of the the treasure increases, so does yours. A famous treasure is a burden though. Lots of treasure attracts lots of bucaneers trying to cash in. This means that, from time to time, while sailing about, you'll get a message. Someone on your crew heard about another ship going for your booty. You'll have the option to sail there right away or not. If you don't, your legendary treasure shrinks a little as does your fame. The longer you go without protecting your treasure, the more people will try to take. Wait to long, and when you DO decide to defend it, you could be looking at a fleet of warships instead of a single frigate. However, going to defend your treasure will have drawbacks. If you're in the middle of hunting a pirate for a nation, the pirate will escape and you'll fail the mission and get no money. So in the end, the high risk of keeping a legendary treasure yields a high reward. Leave a Legendary treasure for three years, it'll be woth 3x as much. When you do decide to pick it up and cash it in, you won't pick up all the individual items. Instead, one item will be added to your cargo... 1 Legendary Treasure. A legendary treasure can be sold at a stre for a LOT of money, or can be given to the local lord, who will reward your find and loyalty with a LOT of land and a percenage of the treasure.

Essentially, this is the loanshark investment on steroids with more action and more pirateness. Tell me what you think. My thoght is that you can hide a Legendary treasure on any island at any point you can go ashore eccept towns and cities. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/type_1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":nk" border="0" alt="type_1.gif" />

and how would it increase then? i think that would be your personal stash, which makes sense. but i don't understand why they would find it. it's not like you're going to tell your hiding-place to every pirate you meet.

Let me clarify. A Legendary Treasure could contain: Gold (both in coin and in bulk), Gems, and artifacts. Once you store them in a Legendary Trwasure hidingspot, all the items become one item, A Legendary Treasure. You can add to it to increase the yield when you decide to take it.

As for other ships finding it, that's the whole point to the treasure being LEGENDARY. Your crew, drunk one night on shore leave, tells of a fabulous treasure hidden on the coast of a far away island. It only takes one and soon the story spreads. Soon it reaches the ear of a captain who decides to go off looking for it. When he starts to get close, one of your crew will approach you and let you know that your treasure is in danger. If you choose to defend your treasure, you'll be teleported to the island where your treasure is hidden and pitched against the pirate there to steal your booty. Defeat him, and the fame of the ellusive treasure grows.

Well morgan terror, I hope that helps clarify! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

i don't really feel anything for it. i already have enough on my mind, and having a treasure to guard would only make things worse. i'd just keep the stuff on my ship.
