Anno Series

Oh yes i get that feeling often when reading about games i liked or for example been a formula one fan that i am i get the feeling to go and race on the track they raced on after the race has finished but most of the time i have to wait till night due to so much going on during the day.

I just bourght Anno 1503 for 49p.:D Every shop i visited had sold out or wasn't stocking it any more so i visited PC World and there it was the only copy for 49p, pitty 1601 wasn't there because i would like that aswell. You said you profered Anno 1503 over the old ones didn't you?
 
Absolutely. Its a lot harder, but it's just better. Balancing the economy will drive you crazy. (I think there are some cheats to plus you up if I remember). It'll be more fun if you cheat starting out. The battles are hard to manage also because the AI is bad so you end up giving commands to each individual entity. It doesn't have the mobs 1701 does, youll just see angry faces on the houses if you're not doing well and they will eventually collapse. Your opponents aren't as aggresive either. I think you'll like it. Several of the missions deal with killing pirates or trading with the pirate lair. The monster expansion actually has krakens that will destroy your ships. Lots of patience required. I had a couple friends give up on it after a couple days. Good Luck. :dance

I had a look at it last night but wasn't ready to play it, i just wanted to see how different it was and since i started playing Anno 1701 first it has made it some what more complicated to get use to the layout of Anno 1503 however i will get use to it soon enough. If i get chance i will do the tutorials tonight, from what i did see in Anno 1503 there are more products to harvest/produce which funny enough is where 1701 i felt lacking in.
 
They purposely made the production chains simpler in 1701 because of complaints they were too complex in 1503. I never minded that aspect. One thing to be aware of in 1503: You have to build a little road/path to the doors of every little building even if its just a hunters hut in order for your base production workers to collect materials to manufacture goods or your warehouses to collect materials/goods. 1701 simplified this to where it was automatic - not so in 1503. If you see that a building has the not-functioning symbol above it, it's either full of product or it has no path to it. Making paths is time consuming but can be fun and you can upgrade them to cobblestone later and even decorative stone in places you want to beautify.

In Anno 1701 i spent most of my time watching the enemy and how they built there city, i wanted to get some tips off thema dn i noticed they built roads going right to the buildings like the wheat farms etc while i only had them near them and not in the field of production and it was fine however since it made sense to go right to there dorrs i did the same, that should mean hopefully i don't have that problem.

I like the idea of more products been available and it might be more complicated but if the game is to be a real trade simulation then it should have as many proction options as possible. In the new world trade was very big and you would expect salt to be one such product which i believe 1503 has. Hopefully in a future Anno game they add more product chains and hopefully i will have a computer that can play it.
