Antidote and weapon degrading

TwoWinds

Powder Monkey
Hey Im new to the whole PotC Build mod scene and im loving what you all have done! Awesome work!! Im constantly amazed at the difference in the build mod and the original.

What im running: Build Mod 14 patch 5

got a couple question that i was searching for an answers on the forums ...

1) how do i use the antidote...? Ive been poisoned and i try clicking on the antidote potion and nothing ... if i click C and i use a potion not an antidote.. so far i havn't been able to find any way of un-poisoning myself.

2) is there anyway way of turning off the weapon degrading feature? I have a decent sword that i found in a dungeon but it keeps dissapearing while im fighting because it degrades and its not one that i can just go buy somewhere. I have to keep loading a old save game and hope that it doesn't degrade again ... so far its degraded on me about half a dozen times and ive only been playing 2 days

Thanks Mates!

Ahoy, and welcome! :gday

For the antidote, I can't remember how to do that, but I'm sure someone else will.
For weapon degradation, you can turn that off in one of two ways, both in 'Options > Advanced Options':
  1. Set 'Weaponsmod' to 'stock PotC'- this removes all the different quality levels, and hence turns off quality degradation.
  2. Set 'Bladedamage' to 'stock PotC'- this only turns off the degradation, but maintains the different quality levels.
The choice is yours, but either way will work just as well. Remember to save your game before making the changes, because you can't 'Resume game' afterwards.
You may want to look through some of the other Advanced Options as well, since they're quite useful for tweaking the game to you liking. ;)

Ya got me scratching me head there. I have never had a problem choosing which potion to use. The poison antidote (if you have it) has always worked for me. There is also a poison antidote and health potion. I put up a sword block, hit enter, potions, and scroll over to the one I want and click on it. Then slug it down. :nerbz

Ohh.... :facepalm What quest are you playing? In the Jack sparrow quest there is a bug that stops you from using any potions. A fix is in the works.

Use number 2 option from Armada. Or stay close to a blacksmith who can repair your sword. :drunk

Interesting signature. That does not look like cloud 9.

Thanks for the quick reply guys

Ill try the advance options thanks Armada

as for the potions im not doing any quest at the moment its just when im fighting or open a wallet and get poisoned so far i haven't been able to do anything to counter it ... im gona have to play around a bit more ... i must be doing something wrong ... its got me scratching my head here...

and as for the sig, Thanks! I used to play an online pirate game called Dogs of the seas.. before it went way down hill ... but anyways i made it for my character on it

What is the quality of the sword that keeps breaking on you? If it's not good, find a blacksmith to increase the quality.
Unless it is a special quality-less sword, when it "breaks", you keep the broken sword in your inventory and can still repair it.
If I did the balancing of the bladedamage mod correctly, they should not degrade in quality very quickly.
I just figured that if there is qualities and there is blacksmiths to increase the qualities, the quality should be able to go down again as well. :facepalm

the quality is worn but the stats are decent .. i set the degrading to off so its no issue now ... maybe later on ill try it back on again since i found the blacksmiths that you all where talking about.

as for the poison issue i got it figured out. i was trying to take the potion from the inventory screen ... wasn't using the use item option when you press enter. :facepalm

Thanks for the Help All!
