Anybody figured out dancing?

<!--`QuoteBegin-Cpt`. StarEye+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Cpt. StarEye)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Hmm, I wonder. What are these pirouettes? I know what a pirouette is, but I've never used these buttons (7 and 9) yet. I've always just used forward, backwards, `back-left`, `back-right`, left and right. The turn left and turn right has never been in use in my case, and I can't see how I'm supposed to. I've tried pressing them but they don't do anything. Also, I always seem to impress the girl, and I rarely stumble. And I do pirouettes too, I always thought it was something about the timing, or if pirouettes are done automatically.

It's getting weirder and weirder.[/quote]

Now that I look at my book again and look at the pictures, I'm more confused than ever. I've never used 7 or 9, but have used 4, 6, 1, and 3. I had thought 1,3 was what the book says 7, 9 is for. Maybe this is my problem after all. Just assuming that back right would be 3, when it is really 9?

If your really having a tough time with the dancing heres a little trick to try. Right when the lady makes her hand signal hit the pause/break on your keyboard then press the button corresponding to her signal. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Dancing with the Daughter

In response to difficulty and distinction between daughters, higher difficulty results in greater 'margin for error' and the more attractive a daughter the harder she is to impress.

If you dance with a plain daughter on Apprentice (the initial game difficulty level), watch the HUD light up, indicating what keys to press. For those of you with a laptop, open the Keymap.ini file and set keys as you wish.

On the Num Pad HUD, 7 and 3 are an identical move, as are 9 and 1. I prefer to dance using 1 and 3 (placing my pointer finger on 1, middle on 5, and ring on 3 in a triangular pattern), but some may choose a 7, 5, 9 approach.

Some of the benefits to dancing are not only gathering fame points (ie. Marrying a daughter) but collecting gifts as well. Plus, once you have wed a daughter, you can dance with her as many times as you like. This allows you to hone your skills and grab any missing map pieces, villians, etc.

Every move happens in time with the beat. The trick I have used to win many a daughter over on Swashbuckler, is watch your character's arms. Tap your foot in time with his arms and when you have danced enough patterns, your fingers will do the work for you!

Have fun tapping those toes!

If any of you are familiar with music, dancing is quite easy. Remember that Baroque music (the type of music in the game) is regimented and orderly, with a steady rhythm. Also remember that there are four music notes in a measure, and that everything in Baroque music comes in intervals of four.

If she has you do a certain move, she'll either do it two times or four times before switching to a different move. And since that musical style is orderly, you'll almost always end up in the spot where you started from before beginning a new movement. It's easier to predict what the next move will be that way.

It seems to me at higher difficulty level dancing pace is faster as well.....
Another distinction between "plain", "attractive" and "beautiful" is their dress. Beautiful ladies tend to be more fashion conscious. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

I like the dancing, it's a nice break from the looting. At first I had trouble but now have an almost perfect success rate on the first three difficulty levels when dancing. I've even come to memorise some of the patterns.

If you get a perfect on the dance, meaning no mistakes, you sometimes get a special ending. (hint: not just a kiss on the hand)
