Word from Rusty is that there were a few glitches with the Steam integration. They also updated the 3d engine just recently and discovered that it broke things like the shader used on the sails ect. So I think there will be a short delay. Soon thought, real soon.

To be more specific here is Rusty's quote
<i>Rusty
"The first snag was getting up on Steam and working through the issues with Valve, and the second snag was we took a new drop of the Alchemy engine, and that wound up breaking a lot of pieces (for example, the sail shader was broken and it looked goofy).

There is a high degree of confidence that the Steam issues have been worked out, and we're making good progress on the rest of it. I saw the list of the first 23 testers today (Misha had 20, one of whom was our beta contest winner from way back), and I pointed out that users who successfully submit ships are also automatically in the beta, hence the extra three. Notifications aren't being sent out until the game is ready to go, so that you get one email with everything that you need.

I did expect to start external testing before now. On the other hand, we've had a little more time to do some polishing. Because these builds are going to be produced rather frequently, they're not undergoing a freeze like we do at the end of a milestone, so their stability and polish won't be as high as our milestone builds. On the other hand, as we switch over from new features to fixing bugs, the stability will go up anyway.

And in other news, I finally got back the legalese today for submitting a user created ship. I think people are going to be very pleased with it."</i>
